When you are out on the road no matter where you are, you will almost always experience a chilly night under the stars. Warm yourself up with a hearty French Onion Soup with some Cheesy bread, super easy to make no matter where you are!

French Onion Soup with Cheesy Bread

Ingredients

Soup–60g butter, chopped -2 tablespoons olive oil -6 brown onions, thinly sliced or diced -2 teaspoons brown sugar -2 tablespoons plain flour -4 cups beef style liquid stock

Cheesy Bread-Butter to spread -Baguette, sliced -Grated Cheese

Method

1. Heat butter and oil in large saucepan until sizzling 2. Add in onions and a pinch of salt, cook uncovered for 30-45 minutes until onions are soft, stirring often 3. Add brown sugar until onions caramelise 4. Add flour to saucepan, add stock and 2 cups water and reduce to simmer for 20 minutes 5. While waiting for the soup to simmer, slice baguette into 1.5cm thick slices and butter each side 6. Grill on bbq or in oven until toasted 7. Sprinkle cheese on one side and allow to melt 8. Ladle soup into bowls and top with cheesy bread
